The 10 Best Gyms in Ho Chi Minh City (2026 Guide)

Ten of the best gyms in Ho Chi Minh City, compared by training style, location, and who each one suits. Written by Primal, with our own bias disclosed.

The best gym in Ho Chi Minh City depends on what you want from training. Budget chains, boutique studios, combat gyms, and full-service clubs all serve different people well.

Most people pick badly because they compare price and location only. They end up somewhere that technically has equipment but does not suit how they actually want to train.

This guide covers ten gyms across the city, grouped by who each one suits. We list location, training style, and an honest limitation for every entry.

Key Takeaways

  • There is no single best gym. Match the gym to your goal, not to its marketing.

  • Budget chains win on access. Twenty-four hour opening and many branches beat boutique pricing for some people.

  • Boutique gyms win on coaching. Smaller classes mean someone actually watches you lift.

  • Thao Dien is the densest area. Expats have the most choice here, and the most overlap.

  • Always visit before committing. Photographs never show how crowded a gym gets at 7pm.

How We Chose These Gyms

How This List Was Compiled

Every entry was checked against the operator’s own website or official page. That means stated founding years, published locations, listed services, and disclosed facilities.

Anything we could not confirm from an official source was left out. We have not published pricing, because rates change often and vary by contract length. Where sources disagreed, we say so in the entry.

The numbers are for navigation only. This is not a ranking from best to worst, and number one is not our verdict on the best gym in the city. Every entry is grouped by who it suits rather than scored against the others.

What Carried the Most Weight

Because this list spans very different kinds of provider, four capabilities mattered more than the rest.

  • Coaching quality: are staff qualified, and do they correct technique unprompted?

  • Facility fit: does the equipment actually match the specialism claimed?

  • Consistency of reputation: do members describe the same strengths over a long period?

  • Access and practicality: hours, location, and whether membership terms suit short or long stays.

A Note on Addresses

Ho Chi Minh City reorganised its wards on 1 July 2025, and the district system no longer exists. Thao Dien and Thu Thiem now sit within An Khanh Ward, which replaced the former District 2.

Many gyms still show the old format on their own websites and signage, so you may see both. We use current ward names in addresses and neighbourhood names in the text.

A Note on Transparency

This guide is published by Primal, and Primal appears first on the list. We applied the same four criteria to ourselves as to every other entry here, including the limitation we list against our own.

Nobody paid for placement, and we received nothing for including any gym. Several entries beat us outright on things we cannot offer.

Verify hours, pricing, and location directly before you commit to a membership.

1. Primal

Three floors run in one building. Combat covers Muay Thai, kickboxing and BJJ. Movement covers infrared flow, mobility and Pilates Sculpt. Strength covers kettlebell, circuit conditioning and core power.

The structural difference is that training is class-based rather than floor-based. Every session is coached and taken as a group, so you are never working through a program alone. Class choice stays flexible. Sizes are capped at 20 on Strength, 30 on Combat and 25 on Movement.

The calendar continues off the floor: a weekly run club, monthly socials and member-led Tribe Talks. An invite-only tier, the Lion’s Club, runs 12-week blocks.

Recovery covers magnesium hot and cold baths, ice barrels and an infrared sauna.

Worth knowing: everything runs as a class. If you prefer training alone on your own program, a conventional gym floor is the better fit. Weekend sessions end at 5pm, and drop-ins are available if you want to try a floor first.

Our approach is explained further on the about page and the class timetable.

2. The New Gym

  • Best for: budget-conscious lifters who want a straightforward, no-judgement gym floor.

  • Addresses: multi-branch. Confirmed sites include 197C Le Hong Phong, Cho Quan Ward; 264 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Xuan Hoa Ward; and 365 Cong Hoa, Tan Binh.

A nationwide Vietnamese chain positioned as "Gym For Everyone". Standard membership gives unlimited access to your home club, while the Black Card tier adds every club nationwide plus body composition testing.

Members get free fitness training sessions with certified trainers, a beginner’s guide, and an app for tracking progress. Many branches operate twenty-four hours.

Worth knowing: several branches require a Vietnamese phone number to register, and day passes are often unavailable. Short-term visitors report being turned away.

3. Gym One

  • Best for: central-district professionals who want facilities without a chain-gym feel.

  • Address: 247 Dien Bien Phu, Xuan Hoa Ward, on the Le Quy Don junction.

Free on-site car and motorbike parking is included. Opening hours run 6am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 8pm on Sunday.

Facilities are unusually complete for a single-site gym. There is a dedicated boxing area, a yoga room, an InBody assessment room with a stretching bed, a Himalayan salt dry sauna, and a herbal wet sauna. Towels and filtered water are provided.

Worth knowing: it is a single location. If you move around the city, a chain membership will be more practical.

4. Body Fix Fitness Center

  • Best for: District 2 residents wanting a broad class timetable.

  • Address: Street No. 5, An Phu An Khanh Urban Area, An Khanh Ward.

Body Fix combines a spacious weights floor with a yoga room and group classes. It opens from 5:30am on weekdays.

Members consistently praise the coaching staff and the range of activities available under one membership.

Worth knowing: it sits outside Thao Dien proper, so factor in the ride if you are coming from the centre of the ward.

5. Body Shape Gym Thao Dien

  • Best for: people training around an injury, and families wanting one gym for all ages.

  • Address: 49G Quoc Huong, An Khanh Ward (Thao Dien).

Operating since 2012, Body Shape covers advanced weight training, cardio, ITF Taekwon-Do, and kickboxing.

Its elite-level rehabilitation service is the genuine differentiator, built around movement analysis rather than isolated treatment. The gym also runs assessments, kids and youth programs, and athletic preparation for sports including MMA, golf, tennis, powerlifting, and bodybuilding.

Worth knowing: members describe the facilities as older, though well maintained. It prioritises equipment breadth over polish.

6. Ly Duc Gym

  • Best for: classic bodybuilding and machine-led hypertrophy training.

  • Address: 839 Tran Xuan Soan, Tan Hung Ward. The club reopened at this address in May 2026, so older listings may show a different street number.

It was founded by the Vietnamese bodybuilding figure Ly Duc.

The floor is built around a deep range of machines covering every major muscle group, with enough duplication that members can pick the variation that suits their build. Opening hours run 5:30am to 9pm Monday to Saturday.

Worth knowing: Sunday hours are mornings only. This is a bodybuilding gym rather than a class-based one, so look elsewhere if you want combat sports or a recovery suite.

7. California Fitness and Yoga

  • Best for: people who want one membership valid across the country.

  • Addresses: around 50 clubs nationwide. Ho Chi Minh City sites include Floor 3, Thao Dien Pearl, 12 Quoc Huong, An Khanh Ward; 464-468 Phan Xich Long, Cau Kieu Ward; and Floor 5, 126 Hung Vuong, Cho Lon Ward.

It is the first and largest international fitness operator in Vietnam, with a workforce of over 6,000 and clubs reaching Hanoi, Da Nang, and Vung Tau.

Service breadth is the real strength. Alongside Yoga, Dance, and Group X classes, it runs ProPhysio, RXPilates, corrective exercise, Kickfit and MMA, and HYPOXI fat-reduction technology.

Worth knowing: membership sales are persistent and popular branches get crowded after 6pm. Read the contract length carefully.

8. Gorilla Gym

  • Best for: equipment-focused training in Thao Dien without a class timetable.

  • Address: 29 Quoc Huong, An Khanh Ward (Thao Dien).

It opens 6am to 10pm every day of the week, including Sundays.

It is a recent opening and the equipment reflects that. Members describe a Western-style floor with a deep machine selection, strong air conditioning, and free eggs and bananas after training.

Worth knowing: there is no sauna or pool. This is a gym floor rather than a wellness club, which is exactly why some people prefer it.

9. Gym Kao

  • Best for: flexible membership terms and short stays in Thao Dien.

  • Address: 14d9 Thao Dien, An Khanh Ward.

Gym Kao is a compact three-floor gym, open 6am to 9:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 9pm at weekends.

It is one of the few gyms in the area selling day, week, month, and annual passes, which suits visitors and short-term residents. Free motorbike parking and air conditioning are included.

Worth knowing: the footprint is small. Dumbbell selection is strong but machine variety is limited.

10. Gymaster Center

  • Best for: south-side residents wanting facilities and recovery included in the membership.

  • Address: Gymaster Building, 233A-235-237 Street 9A, Trung Son Residential Area, Binh Hung. A second site operates in the District 12 area.

Part of the Gymaster sports group, the main venue is an eight-storey building.

The offer covers gym and fitness, yoga, MMA, dance, and spa. Sauna, jacuzzi, massage chairs, and nutrition consultations are included rather than charged as extras.

Worth knowing: both sites sit well outside the central areas and Thao Dien. Strong if you live nearby, impractical if you do not.

If the MMA side is what draws you, our guide on how to start martial arts training covers what to expect from a first class.

How to Choose Between Them

Start With Your Actual Schedule

A gym twenty minutes away in traffic gets visited twice a week at best. Proximity beats facilities for most people.

Decide Whether You Want Coaching

Chain gyms give you equipment and access. Boutique gyms give you correction and programming.

Neither is better in the abstract. Our comparison of group training versus traditional gyms sets out the trade-off.

Check What Recovery Is Available

Sauna, cold plunge, and stretching space matter more in this climate than most people expect. Read our guide to post workout recovery for why.

What Separates a Good Gym From an Average One

  • Coaches who correct people unprompted. Watch the floor for five minutes and you will know.

  • Equipment maintained rather than just modern. Check for out-of-service tags.

  • A clear specialism. Gyms that claim to be best at everything usually are not.

  • Transparent contracts. Ask about cancellation terms before you ask about price.

Many of the better options here are built around functional training. Our explainer on the functional gym model covers what that means.

If accountability is your weak point, small group classes solve it better than a cheaper membership. That case is made in our piece on joining a group fitness class.

Choose the Gym That Fits How You Want to Train

Every entry on this list is a reasonable choice for the right person. The mistake is choosing on price alone, then quitting within two months.

Decide what you want first, then visit three gyms at your real training time. Pick the one where you would happily turn up on a bad day.

Curious whether Primal fits? Browse the class timetable or come in for a look around. If we are not right for you, we will tell you.
